Decorating with seashells.

Decorating with seashells.

Summer time is a time for decorating in light colors and textures. The heat and humidity feel less oppressive when you've got lighter decor surrounding you.  And with a lot of people spending time at the shore and hunting for all those seashells, what do you do with them once your back home? Here are a few pretty ideas.
I love the little bottles of sand too along with the seashells.
The painted shells are cool looking. I'd prefer to keep mine natural .
This table is a little over the top. Maybe just keep the seashells to the top surface only. Less is more........
These fancy seashell wind chimes and pieces of art are really beautiful and also very heavy. Quite a lot of work goes into creating them.
If you'd like to clean your shells, and I suggest you do or they will start to smell soon if they haven't yet, here is an easy solution.
Take the seashells and let them soak in a 50-50 solution of bleach and water. There is no set time to let them soak because it various by the type of seashells and quantity of seashells being cleaned. Just make sure to remove them after the periostracum is gone. The periostracum is the flaky leathery covering that covers most live seashells.
A small tooth brush can help you with some extra cleaning too. I'd love to see some of your seashell decor!
Have a blessed weekend.
